About Laura

Laura is an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker who provides treatment to clients in inner-Sydney. She has 5 cats, 2 kids, and a partner, and lives in the Inner West of Sydney. Most recently she has been proud to work with Veterans and Current Serving Personnel in the ADF and has developed skilled trauma treatment through this work.

In her earlier career Laura was a Fertility Nurse at Genea IVF, and it was through this work that she realised a deep affinity and compassion for supporting people in psychic pain.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Masters of Social Work (CSU)

  • Bachelor of Nursing (UTS)

  • Graduate Diploma in Counselling (ACAP)

  • Accredited Mental Health Social Worker registered with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW)

  • Additional training in Internal Family Systems, EMDR, Polyvagal Theory, Trauma Focused CBT, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy

  • Accredited facilitator of internationally recognised parenting programs Tuning into Kids, Tuning into Teens, as well as Storm Birds, ASSIST Suicide Intervention Training, Gottman Method Couples Therapy

Laura’s background:

Prior to moving into Private Practice, Laura worked in a variety of mental health settings over the past 11 years;

- Providing mental health treatment to current Australian Defence Force members, as well as Veterans, and their families, at Open Arms Counselling Service.

- Providing psychoeducation, skill building, and mental health support to families from rural and remote NSW at Royal Far West Children’s Service.

- Providing trauma-focused community interventions at Bushfire Recovery Project.

- Providing trauma-focused counselling with the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sex Abuse.

- Providing assessment and interventions to clients at NSW Health Dept Community Opioid Treatment Centre.
